Memories of Parenthood

I want to introduce my second bronze series, “Memories of Parenthood.” The project arose after my close friend commissioned me to create a statue of her and her son. I had a great time building the piece and I realized how much I cared about the topic of parenthood. Raising my two sons was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and I can never remove being a mother from my identity. Now, one son is in college and the other has graduated. I don't see them as often as I would like and I miss when they were young. In particular, I remember fondly when I used to play “Airplane” with them; I would lay flat on my back holding his little arms and lift him up with one leg on his torso. We used to both laugh hysterically while we played. I am very excited about this series because it brings me back to all the great memories of being a mother. Raising children is one of the most meaningful things humans can do in their lifetimes and I hope my series can convey the unique love between parent and child.
